Home Sweet Home

It is great to be home with my 3 favorite boys, and I was glad to arrive last night before the boys went to sleep. I was very happily greeted by Nathan and the boys. And sweet Tes baked me a red velvet cake, my favorite!
Today we went to our neighborhood park in the morning, we all took naps, and then we went to a new park that Nathan found while I was out of town.  It was a beautiful day and the park was packed with families! It's the nicest one yet, with lots of green space, walking trails, and multiple playgrounds.
It was a perfect way to spend my first day at home.

Sweet Virginia

It has been a great week back in the states. I arrived the day before the 'big' snowstorm and got some time off before work even started, was lucky to meet three friends' newborn babies, see several good friends and kids, attend our home church, drove through our neighborhood and town, eat at some of my favorite places, and was I even able to sneak in a visit to Great Falls National Park. It's been busy, it's been fun, it has been refreshing. The only thing that would make this trip better, is having Nathan and the boys here with me, and being able to see my family.

I didn't always have my camera with me, surprise surprise, but here are some pictures from the week.

A pretty sunset one evening.
 Great Falls
 Visit with the Burns Family
 Visit with the Kerns Family
Oh Haymarket, how we love thee :).
They are building another phase to our community. Hopefully the construction will be completed by the time we return. I was trying not to look creepy stopping to take pictures of our house too.
Report from dad is the boys have had a great week. On the weekends, they went to several parks, down to the gulf for a run, and have been eating popcorn and watching movies before bed. The favorite movie of the week has been Lilo and Stitch:). I am having fun, but I am ready to get back to my 3 boys in a few days!

Happy Reunions

I arrived in the DC area early this morning, and it is good to be back. The sun was shining all day, and the chilly air felt refreshing. Ask me again in a few days how I feel about the cold weather.  I took the long way to the hotel so I could drive some of my favorite roads and to soak in the trees and the greenery. The good thing about arriving on a Sunday morning is no Beltway traffic!

The best part about getting to my hotel was my visitors, Marissa and Henry! They drove down from Philly to visit for the day. Last time I saw them was in April. Henry was 2 months old, and in a couple of weeks he is going to be 1! He is a very sweet and content baby with the cutest strawberry blonde hair and big blue eyes. He is the picture perfect Gerber baby.
I love seeing Marissa as a mom. She is a loving, silly, and having a baby has not slowed her down, rather it has made her and Mike blossom even more. I am so proud of them as parents, and seeing she and Henry together makes me so happy.
The three of us had a great day together. We ate lunch at the Cheesecake factory, then Henry took a snooze while we walked around and got caught up. Before moving to Kuwait, Marissa and I talked on the phone every week, so we made up for a lot of lost time today.
We enjoy living in Kuwait, but being far away from family and friends has been the biggest adjustment for us. I am so happy that I got to see Marissa and Henry, and very thankful for today. I love you guys very much!

Heading West

I will be in the states for the next week and half for work. I am looking forward to seeing some friends, meeting a couple of new babies, and visiting some familiar places. Before leaving this evening, we spent a fun afternoon at the Science Center downtown. It was a very, very windy day. A good day to play indoors.

I will miss these 3 guys a lot, but I know they will have a fun time together. Please pray for safe travels and good week and a half for our family.

Green Island

Today we explored another new place in Kuwait City - The Green Island is an artificial island off of Kuwait City's promenade. It was opened in 1988 and it was the first artificial island in the gulf region.
The Green Island is a popular place to be when the weather is this nice. It offers a great view of the skyline, and on a clear day you can see far down the coast. Just like yesterday, this place was packed with families enjoying the day. Many people were BBQing and it smelled delicious!
Unfortunately we did not have any meat to grill, but there was ice-cream. So, for a second day in a row, we filled our bellies with ice-cream right before dinner.
Did I mention that Ben LOVES ice cream!
The boys had a fun time running around, and Caleb was pretty sad to be leaving. Don't worry, we will be back!
We finished off the evening with a Dominos hawaiian pizza and breadsticks. Our kids have been eating like champs, we deserve the parenting award of the weekend :).
