It was report card day at school last week, and both boys came home with a good reports!
Caleb's teachers said he is well-mannered, he is very participative in class, and he likes to talk a lot and tell stories. Good imagination at work! They said he plays well with all the kids, though he has a favorite boy and girl he talks about often. His teacher said he already knew his letters, numbers, shapes, and colors in English. He is getting good practice writing his letters, and he can write his name. In Arabic, his teacher said he is not very interested. He can count to 10, knows basic shapes, colors, and some letters. He can recognize his name in Arabic and practices tracing it in school. His teacher showed us his Arabic notebook and said he does not connect his Arabic letters. We were not surprised or disappointed...it's like writing in cursive....backwards! And I didn't even learn cursive until I was in 2nd grade. In all seriousness, it is a bilingual school, so we want him to stay on track and have had fun the last couple of nights watching youtube videos about shapes and colors in Arabic, and have some flash cards on the way. Overall, his teachers said he is doing great and they enjoy the fun he adds to the class!
Benjamin's teachers said he is well-mannered, he knows the class routine well, and he loves to be his teachers' helper. They said he is friendly and plays well with all the kids in class, and he also likes to to play alone. He has 3 girlfriends in class that he regularly tells us about, and his teachers affirmed this is true :). He knows basic shapes, numbers 1-10, colors, and letters in English and Arabic. He shows an interest in Arabic and his teacher says he participates and understands what they ask of him in Arabic. Benjamin loves to sing, and he sings a few Arabic songs at home too. We are proud of his growing and developing this year!
