Two weeks and too sweet

We had a great second week at home, and we are loving every day with Caleb. He has been awake more during the day and he sleeps soundly between night feedings (dad and mom are happy about that).

It is very hot outside so we do not get out much during the day, but a couple of days ago we took a walk around the neighborhood on a cooler evening. Halfway through the walk he was getting hot, so we stripped our hillbilly boy down to his diaper. He looked really cute, but I think we got a few weird stares from people passing by -:).

This past week Caleb had a couple more visitors. My friend Cami and her fiancee Gregg visited during the week and my good friend DaeVi from UF, who was in town from Alabama, came to visit and have dinner with us.

On Friday Grandpa Art and Grandma Sue arrived from Florida to stay with us for two weeks. They could not wait to get up here to meet their first grandson!  They love cuddling with Caleb, and as a bonus we are lucky to be spoiled with Grandpa's amazing cooking.

Happy Sunday!

First Week at Home

We had a relaxing but busy first week at home! We are adjusting well to our new life with Caleb and we are getting the hang of things better each day. Nathan is a great daddy and he has been so helpful with Caleb. We make a good team with the round the clock schedule, and I am very thankful for my sweet husband.

Caleb got to meet a lot of people this week. Grandpa Mark and Grandma Betty stayed with us until Monday morning and they got a lot of Caleb loving time. Over the weekend Jessica; Paul, Sue and Kelsey; and Justin, Tara, Mackenzie, Delaney, and Zoey came over to meet Caleb.  During the week Tara came back for round two with her sister Mary and mom Peg, and we met up with their families again for ice cream on Sunday evening.

On Wednesday we took Caleb back to the pediatrician for a weight check. On Monday he weighed 5lbs and by Wednesday's appointment he gained 9 oz in 2 days! We look forward to seeing what he weighs at his two week appointment. It was a really nice day so after the doctor we stopped at Long Park for a picnic to enjoy being outside for a while, then we went to Carmax to sell my car because it died while we were in the hospital.  On Friday we went back to the dealer and got a car.  He was a trooper this week!

We have had a fun week getting to know Caleb. While he just eats, sleeps, poops (a lot), and looks around at us, Twix, and his toys, we are enjoying watching him change and become more alert each day. He makes so many cute faces and we just wonder what goes through his mind -:).

Heading to the Hospital...

Caleb's due date was July 22nd, however around week 35 I came down with Gestational Hypertension and was put on bed rest for the last month of the pregnancy so my doctor scheduled an induction for July 14th. This gave Caleb the perfect conditions to keep baking -:).

The night before the induction we checked into the hospital. They gave mom a sleeping pill and dad a 'comfortable' couch to sleep on... The next morning they started with a small dose of Pitocin since I was  already in light labor, and we watched the Tour de France for a few hours. My labor was progressing slowly, so around noon they kicked up the Pitocin and by 2:30 I was ready for the epidural. Let's just say I have a lot of respect for women who give birth without an epidural! By 4:30 I was fully dialated, however Caleb wasn't in the right position yet. After 4 hours of being moved into different positions every 15 minutes I was ready to deliver and 25 minutes later our sweet baby boy was born. Nathan was a great coach and he got to participate in the delivery! It was an amazing experience for both of us.

On Friday afternoon, Grandpa Mark and Grandma Betty arrived at the hospital to see us and to love on their grandson.  They were a huge help getting us settled the first couple of days at home, and we are so thankful for their visit with us and for spoiling us with cooking, cleaning, and taking care of things around the house. We look forward to visiting with them again soon.

We feel very blessed for Caleb's healthy arrival, and words cannot describe the love we have for our sweet little boy. We are excited about our new life as a family of three -:).
