Happy 11 months old sweet girl! This girl is causing all around and getting pretty fast. She stands up and it will be just a matter of time before she is on the go. She wants to be wherever her brothers are, she watches them closely, and they equally adore her. Eliza
Eliza got 4 new teeth this past month, for a total of 8, and loves eating all sorts of foods. She is a great nurser and loves eating all kinds of foods. She is wearing size 4 diapers, 12 month clothes, and size 4 shoes. Happy 11 months Eliza Rose, we love you.
Towards the end of July, we said goodbye to some special friends. The Cheney family has been good friends of our since 2013 in Kuwait and we are thankful for all the time we had with them over the years. We cherish their friendship with our family and are so glad God crossed our paths in their foreign world. Benjamin and Caleb loves all their children, but especially Mo, their second to oldest. He was their camp counselor this summer and this is about what it looked like every day :).
Jen, Roger's wife, and I took Arabic classes together in Jordan. She was such a great class mate and it was so nice to have this extra time together. This is our last day of class, with our instructor, Ziad.
We had an office get together before their departure at our place. This is our office, plus a couple of work visitors.
And here we are, families and kids. Roger's family is leaving a major children defect, since he has 6 kids! When we first got to Amman, our first Christmas get together totaled 29 kids between 10 of us!
Not only was Roger an amazing co-worker, he has been a great friend to Nathan. We will miss having him and his family in Jordan and hope our paths cross again one day!
One of the first things we did when we got back to Jordan was celebrate this special boy's 8th birthday! It has been such a joy to watch Caleb grow and mature this past year. Caleb is a great big brother, he loves reading, learning new things, exploring outdoors, being with friends, and knows more about movies than we do. He enjoys Tae Kwon Do, piano lessons, and is excited for camp one last summer in Jordan. Caleb has a strong curiosity about life and the world around him, and we love hearing all the questions brings to us.
We celebrated at home as a family and Caleb requested pink (his favorite color these days) and blue cupcakes. And of course, the famous Middle East fireworks candle. It was a great evening celebrating this special boy. Caleb, we pray that this next year will be just as great for you. Happy birthday big boy, we love you!
It's been about 5 months since I have blogged. Life got very busy for us after our return from summer break, so I had to prioritize things and blogging was put on hold. I won't be able to catch up on all things, but I'll try to hit the highlights. This blog post was about 95% done before I stopped blogging in July, so here you go!
This year with Elizabeth and our families both in the U.S., we had a summer family reunion. All of the Purcell siblings plus most of their kids and their kids's kids came. Due to lots of rain, we went to Plan B and the reunion was held at Franklin Park gym instead of Mark and Betty's back yard. It was a perfect spot for the occasion, a nice place for everyone to visit in the cool air conditioning, and the kids had a lot of space to play.
These two... the big wheels gang...it was not easy to get them off the bikes.
Eliza got to meet a lot of cousins and aunts and uncles for the first time!

All the cousins. When I started attending the Purcell family Christmas in December 2007, the only cousins were Lucas, and the newly born Sam, Emily, and Michael. Look at the crew now!
I didn't get pictures of the food, but it was a great spread. We had BBQ, mac-n-cheese, lots of great salads, fruits, and desert. It was so much fun to see all the cousins bond, just like no time had passed since the last time they visited.
That goes for cousins big and small :)
We took a break mid-day to let the kids and parents enjoy the pool. Our crew was all over the pool, between the diving boards, slide, and kids play area. Check out Michael's cannon ball.

Kurt surprised everyone and showed up later in the day! It was very nice to see him and was a nice surprise for everyone.
And we had a piñata that Ron and Nancy brought over. This was one of the funniest things we did that day. Amy and Nancy filling it with candy.
Elizabeth played a trick on the kids and told them that they had to all sit in a line and watch as the adults hit the piñata and got the candy. She managed to keep them in a line watching the adults all take turns whacking the pinnate. Their reactions were pretty funny!
Of course at the end, she told them she was just kidding and at the kids all got to take their whacks and get the candy. Here is the video, it's hilarious!

Uncle Ed is always so thoughtful. He knows how much Benjamin loves earning money and gave him a silver dollar from the 1980s!
