Special Time with Daddy

I was out of town for work for a few days last week, and it was the first time I had to be away from Caleb overnight since he was born. It was sad not seeing him each day, but I must admit I enjoyed a few nights of really good sleep!  Nathan is a great daddy to Caleb and the boys had a fun week together. Here are a some pictures that Nathan took from one of their park outings. Caleb sure is happy to be outside-:). Happy Sunday!

Visit with the Bobrowski's

This past weekend, Nathan's cousin Jennifer and her family came to visit us for the day on their way to Williamsburg for Spring Break. It was so nice to finally meet Joe, since we have managed to miss each other at family functions all these years. Nathan was at school most of the day, so 3 adults and 3 kids packed in their minivan and headed downtown to Haymarket Day. Before going to the festival, we took a pit stop at the downtonw train caboose. Our nephews love the train, and Michael and  Catherine did too. Caleb enjoyed crawling around in the freshly cut grass. Catherine and Michael are very sweet with Caleb, and Catherine even picked him a dandelion -:).

At the festival, there was a baby animal petting zoo, a bounce house, bouncy slide, music, farmers market art stands, and food. It was perfect for the kids! Catherine is not shy, and she started busting a move as soon as she saw the stage. It was
cute!
They  loved the bouncy slide. You could tell that Michael was thinking about how he wanted to go down the slide, but Catherine just rounded the corner and went down however she landed. She has no fear!

Caleb was too little to ride the slide this year, but he got lots of cuddles from Aunt Jennifer
We ended the day with ice cream at our famous Pickle Bob's ice cream trailer behind the gas station. It gets pretty packed once the weather is warm, I'm sure we will be frequenting ice cream this summer -:). Caleb was pooped from all the excitement and he took a little snooze. Don't you just want to eat those cute little toes!
We ended the night with pizza (yes, after the ice cream) and giving the kids a bath. Thanks for the great visit Bobrowski's we will see you soon!
The next afternoon, our friends Josh and Melanie had a BBQ to celebrate the warm weather and their new patio furniture. They also inherited a fancy grill from their friend who could not fit it in his new home, and Josh sure cooks a good brat and burger. I forgot my camera, so no pictures. This turned out to be a good thing because poor Caleb threw up his carrots all over my blue shirt and jeans, so for most of the day I looked like a Florida Gator!

9 months old

Caleb is 9 months old today! He is growing fast and it is amazing to see how many new things he has learned this past month. He crawls everywhere and is really starting to explore our home. Last week we even caught him going up the stairs. He still loves playing with his usual toys and lately he started playing with his car parking garage. He likes to tip it over, remove the parking sign, and bang it on things. He really plays with just about anything you give him. He still babbles 'dadadada' a lot...no love for 'mamama' yet! He loves being read to and most of all he loves to be outside.

Here are his latest stats:
Weight: 16lbs 6 oz (3%)
Height: 26.75 inches (10%)Head: 50%
Clothes: 6-9 months and 9 month
Diapers: Size 3
Eating: 4-5 bottles a day, plus oatmeal, a meat, veggie/or fruit, and a snack (puffs, mum mums, cheerios)
Sleep: about 7:30pm - 5:30am (sometimes 6:00 if we are lucky)
Naps: 2 a day

Check him out in action:

We love you sweet little boy -:)

Visit with Grandma Betty

Grandma Betty came to visit during her Spring Break last week. We were busy, but unlike most power visits we had a lot of time to relax around the house, go on walks, and play outside. When she arrived on Saturday, Nathan was in school, so Caleb and I picked her up anad headed downtown since it was a beautiful day. We were supposed to see the cherry blossoms, but between spring arriving early this year  and the random freeze the week before, most of the blossoms were gone. Instead, we headed to the National Zoo. We have an amazing zoo in DC, it is huge! We were there for close to 3 hours and did not even cover half of it. The animals were very active which was fun to watch. Caleb liked looking at the animals and was happy to be outside.

Sam, we even found a donkey for you!

I love the beginning of spring, I love the colorful flowers, and I love the way our backyard looks with our blossoming trees. I know this isn't the best picture, but you can see how much is starting to bloom!
See those two cute little teeth on the bottom? I think there will be more up top really soon!
Caleb keeps himself pretty occupied now that he is exploring. He loves his little hammer and holds it often. He also loves to pull up on just about everything, especially the gate .
Nathan and Caleb have a special bond, it's fun to see how both of their faces light up when they see each other-:)
Caleb and Grandma bonded a lot this week, and spent lots of time reading, walking, playing, and cuddling. I think Caleb and Grandma enjoyed the quality time equally!
Grandma bought Caleb a swing for Easter, let's just say it was a big it....and it still is every night when we get home. Thank you Grandpa and Grandma!
A few weeks ago, Nathan laid pavers in our backyard and built a retaining wall around the air conditioning unit. It turned out great, I have such a handy husband!
This hat that you will see Caleb wear for a while (until his head gets too big) is a very special hat. It was his daddy's hat 31 years ago. You are a Good Buddy Caleb.
On Saturday Betty, Caleb, and I went to the Manassas Battlefield to go hiking. It was a beautiful day and as soon as Caleb got in the carrier he began smiling and laughing when the wind blew on his face.
Thank you Grandma for the great visit, and for everything you did to help us out. We really appreciate it!
