Happy Mother's Day

It's Mother's Day in this part of the world, and I couldn't be more blessed to be the mom of our sweet little boys. To be honest, I forgot that Mother's Day was coming, until the boys brought home an invitation to their Mother's Day show at school.  At the show, they served coffee and sweets for the moms, we watched the show, then made a craft together afterwards.

It was a fun morning watching the kids perform poems and songs for the moms. Caleb's teachers told me he was singing his little heart out in practice in the front row, and we was so excited for the show. But once he saw me in the audience it was all over, and he cried and cried and wanted to sit with me. He sat with me for the Arabic poem, then his teacher brought him up for the English song, despite him not wanting to be up there at all!

The kids did a great job with the poem, and the moms loved it.

The song was really cute. You can see how thrilled Caleb was to be on stage!

We had fun making a bracelet together. It was green beads, his favorite color.

These are Caleb's wonderful teachers, Ms. Carla and Mrs. Eman. He really loves both of his teachers, but the one with Ms. Carla was right after the show and Caleb was still all about mommy :).

Later that morning I came back from Benjamin's show. This year they taped the performance in advance, and showed us a cute movie with pictures throughout the year, and their song.  Benjamin is in the front row on the right, tapping his foot away during the song :). After the video, we made crafts together. It was a sweet morning.

 And a big surprise was Benjamin's old teacher, Mrs. K, came to the show. Benjamin was so happy to see Mrs. K, and so was I. It was a very nice treat!

Benjamin and Mrs. Eman, who is also the school's Arabic teacher. He loves Arabic class with Mrs. Eman, she is very gifted with the children

And the day would not be complete without Tes, who came with me to watch the shows also. The boys absolutely adore her and we are so thankful for her!

All my friends

Ben loves to have all of his friends in bed with him. Everything from his stuffed camel, bear, and Clifford dog, books, balls, and cars. But his favorite friend he likes to sleep with is Brownie, his daddy's stuffed dog from when he was a little boy. Love, love, love this sweet little boy!

Dinosaurs Roar

Did you know that we have dinosaurs in Kuwait? Well, neither did we until our friend told us about a the Kuwait Dino Park that recently opened. 

 The boys have been excited all week to visit the park, and when they woke up today they knew exactly where we were going. We met up with Abeer, her boys, and brother's kids this morning to enjoy the dinos.

They were big, the moved, and roared really loud. The boys were fascinated, and the girls did not really know what to think at first, but they warmed up to the dinos pretty quickly.

 We were the first ones there, and had the place to ourselves for a while.

 There were several tents throughout the park with different exhibits or activities. The first one we came across had dino eggs the kids could play inside.

Caleb, Benjamin, and Firas had fun riding the dinosaurs.

 And Caleb rode another dinosaur all by himself.

 Afterwards, we all enjoyed some sunshine and snacks. I can feel the temperatures are beginning to rise.

Firas was a cool dude with his spikey hair and mom's sunglasses.

Then the kids took a bull by its horns...

 We found a giant bouncy slide that was a lot of fun.

 Caleb asked me to rid with him, it was really fast :).

 Did you know that 3 and 4 year olds can drive? Firas and Caleb enjoyed showing off their driving skills before we headed home.

It was a fun day had by all, thank you Abeer for the good times!

Our Hero

This world has many heros, some you'd know by name.

They give their best at what they do, so they deserve their fame. 

But among all of the heroes this world has ever had, 

There is not one admired more than the guy that I call Dad.

Perhaps not like the others, he doesn't look for praise.

He's heroic in his special way, in his thoughtful caring ways.

Perhaps he's not as famous as the others that you see,

But he's everything and so much more that heroes ought to be.

He keeps his word, it's good as gold, on this you can depend.

He's honest and he's loyal too, he's also a true friend.

When I hear about a hero, and the great things they have done,

It reminds me of my father, he is the greatest one...

I thank God everyday for the wonderful father that Nathan is to our boys. Nathan, we love you to the moon and back!

P.S. - we need some Florida Gator clothes...

Souq Mubarakiya

We love going to Souq Mubarakiya, it is one of our favorite things to do around here. It is always lively, and a lot of the vendors know us and enjoy seeing the boys. 

One of our favorite vendors is the date man. He loves the boys and gives us lots of dates to sample when we come by.

He always tell us how much he loves America and likes when I take his picture :). 

Next we enjoyed a delicious crepe with egg, cheese, and honey. Nathan discovered this yummy snack last time we visited. The boys waited patiently for the food to be cooked.

Next we walked through the colorful fruit and vegetable market. It is a nice sight and smell after walking through the fish market to get there!

Nathan and Caleb went looking for a scarf, and this nice Yemeni man showed him how to wrap his head.

It was so nice out, so we decided to take the long way home and drive along the gulf. 

Actually, our original plan for the day was to go up in the Kuwaiti towers. Nathan read on a website that they were re-opening on the Liberation Holiday, after being closed for renovation for the past 3 years. But one thing we have learned living here is, trust by verify. The towers were not open, despite the big announcement online.  Instead, we settled for a drive by  the Towers on the way home and called it a day. It was a fun day.
