I love the mornings for many reasons. It is quiet and peaceful, and my favorite time of day to read, study, and work out. I love watching the sunrise every morning over the mountains. My favorite part of the mornings however, is Nathan and my early morning coffee dates. We wake up before the kids, and after we are done working out and studying, we enjoy coffee and breakfast together. Sometimes we talk about different things going on, the day ahead of us, or things we want to do. It is a special time of the day that I am happy and thankful for.

Snow much fun!
This past week we had several snow days. It was such a treat to watch the snowfall from up high, and to play in the snow. Such a pretty view from our kitchen!

All about Eliza...
This post is all about Eliza and how she makes our life so sweet. She is a girly girl, yet can play rougher with her brothers and she enjoys all the things they do. She loves babies, cats, puppies, all things pink, cooking in her kitchen, and giving people bandaids when they are hurt. She is sensitive and curious about how people feel, and always wants to know, ‘what happen to x?’

Happy 2021!
What an interesting year 2020 has been! Despite the pandemic giving us all a run for our money, we have been very thankful for the slower pace of life, lots of time together as a family, and for our health. This year we concluded our fifth and final year and Jordan. We loved living there, learning about the culture, and we are thankful for the many experiences, growing opportunities, and wonderful friends we made there.
Coronavirus hit Jordan in mid-March and we had a very strict lockdown for 3 months. School went remote, as it did for most of the world, but we all adapted and in May Caleb finished the 2nd grade and Benjamin the 1st grade at the American Community School. They had a great three years at that school and two years at a local school prior. In June, we were fortunate for internal tourism to open up, and we were able to escape to the Dead Sea, Petra, and Wadi Rum one last time. It was very unique to visit those places with no tourists, and it felt like we had them entirely to ourselves. The boys were also able to attend 7 weeks of summer camp at the Embassy while cases were low enough for camp to operate, and coming off of a 3 month lockdown it was a treat for them to go swimming and be with their friends every day. A few weeks before leaving Caleb turned 9, and we celebrated at home with a few friends. In late August we moved to Ankara, Turkey, which will be our home for the next 3 years. We are enjoying the change of living in a high-rise building, and we are very lucky to have lots of green space and parks in our neighborhood for the kids play, a forest across the street to explore, and a great view from our apartment. Turkey is well set-up for a pandemic, and we are lucky to be able to be outside as much as we can.
During our quarantine period, Eliza turned 2. She is growing fast and talking up a storm, she loves playing with her brothers, babies, all things pink, and having us home together.
The boys started 3rd and 2nd at Oasis International School. They have been doing school almost exclusively online, aside from a one-month stint when they were able to attend twice a week in person. After the new year, they will resume school online until at least mid-February. I have been fortunate to not work during this time to do homeschooling, but here’s to hoping that they can go back to school this year!
On New Year’s Eve, we ate pizza and ice cream, played games, and watched movies. The boys and Nathan stayed up late, and they went to the playground a little before midnight. This was Caleb’s 3rd year making it to midnight and Benjamin’s first year. It’s a fun tradition they will have in the years to come!
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witness, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with endurance that race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfected of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. ~ Hebrews 12:1-3
