My parents arrived in town this evening! They had a very long journey from Hawaii, 31 hours and 3 flights later, they are here. It has been almost 11 months since we have seen them, and we are so happy to have them here. Caleb remembered them instantly and was so excited to show them around and talk about everything around the house. Ben snuggled up to them right away.
After Caleb showed them just about everything in the house, the boys settled down and went to bed.February 20, 2014

Mommy's little helpers
Ben is turning into a great little helper too. He wants to do everything his big brother does. In all fairness, all he really wanted to do this evening is eat the chocolate chips.
Here is a picture from yesterday that sums up Ben well. SWEET! Yesterday Nathan and I were off of work, and Caleb had school, so we spent half of the day downtown with just Ben. It was a treat to spend time alone with him, that we don't get very often.
We love our two sweet, fun, playful loving little boys!

Sand Village and a Date :).
One day this weekend we went to a local sand village. As it turns out, it is one of the largest sand villages in the world. Sculptors from Kuwait and around the world took part in building the sculptures with the theme 'One Thousand and One Nights.' Every sculpture was hand-carved, the detail was quite spectacular.
After visiting the sand village, we went over to the Proud to be Kuwaiti Festival, which was also held at the fairgrounds. This is a very festive time to be in Kuwait. People are dressed in shirts, jackets, hats, you name it with the Kuwaiti flag, and flags are Kuwaiti flags are flying everywhere.
Caleb waited patiently and enjoyed driving the Kuwaiti tank
Afterwards, we walked around the festival and did lots of window shopping
We even found a Kuwaiti hoodie for Caleb to wear to preschool ;).
Ben is doing a great job walking. He walked all over the festival and he gets so proud of himself when you cheer him on.
Go Ben go!
We left the festival as the sun was going down. Things really come to life when the sun sets around here. It was very busy as we left.
This afternoon, Tes watched the boys and Nathan and I went on a Valentine's date. We went to a city on the gulf about 20 minutes south of where we usually go. It was a beautiful day.
We ate delicious Lebanese food for lunch, enjoyed coffee, and had a nice afternoon together. Even though we ended the date grocery shopping it was a nice romantic day:).

Love is in the air
Happy Valentine's Day! I am one lucky wife and mommy. I came home to three roses, one from each of my favorite boys :).
The boys love Tes and gave her a sweet ValentineAnd the boys and Tes made us Valentine's as well
Caleb made these crafts at preschool
Love is in the air :)
February is a unique time in Kuwait. At the end of the month, they celebrate National Day and Liberation Day. The city is lined with Kuwaiti flags and it is very festive. They begin preparing for the holidays at the beginning of the month. It's fun to see the Kuwaiti spirit. In preschool, Caleb made this nice painting of the Kuwaiti Towers, a major landmark downtown.
They also painted the traditional Kuwaiti flag. This was the flag of Kuwait before the Gulf War, but you still see them flown often.
Happy Valentine's Day from our home, to yours :).

Shattered
Everyone is fine, but tonight we had a little bit of a scare. Our shower door shattered to pieces. This evening when the boys were getting in the shower, I noticed the shower door was stuck. I tried to close it very carefully, but apparently I was not careful enough.
I watched the door shatter to pieces, fall to the ground, and land all over the boys. It was a scary site to witness. I got the boys out of the shower, and Nathan came running in shortly after and got them washed off. We each got away with only a few minor cuts. I thanked God for his protection over our boys.
After a cold glass of milk and a few books, the boys were fine and they went right to bed. Nathan is super in these situations. He swept up the glass and I vacuumed. We had to put a hard board under the box to carry it outside, because the glass was so heavy. Wouldn't that be funny to have all the glass fall onto the ground? Not, really....
We may not have a shower door in our bathroom, but we do have two soundly sleeping boys and a very clean bathroom.

Superheros can walk too
Watch Ben go, go, go!
Yes, at the end of the video, Caleb keeps asking Freddie if he wants to get out…of his tank! Ben is doing a great job walking. He is sturdy on his feet, and is so proud of himself when he makes his way to you.
I got these superhero sweaters for the boys when I was in the States. Caleb wants to wear his Spiderman jacket all the time. This is a picture of Spiderman going to Bahrain, so he says.
Happy Thursday!February 2, 2014
Baby Steps
Yesterday we went to the Gulf to go for a walk and get muffins and coffee. It is always cooler and windy by the water, and yesterday was no different.
Ben is taking some steps! He can take a few at a time. This sweet little girl wanted to help Ben walk yesterday. I have a cute video, but blogger is not letting me upload it. Maybe another day.
